In every organization, the relationship between an employee and their manager requires the most consistent attention and care to thrive. Unfortunately, this level of attentiveness to the employee experience can be difficult to achieve when balancing other meetings and heavy workloads.
This is why we chose to offer you 1:1s on mobile. To ensure that these crucial meetings can happen whenever and wherever is most convenient for your people!
Why We Built It
According to Gallup, 70% of the employee experience is the relationship between the employee and their manager. That’s a lot out of HR’s hands!
A regular recurring 1:1 with every member of their team is the best way for managers to think more like coaches. Empathetic leadership is the key to high-functioning and productive teams.
There are a lot of pieces that go into creating a strong manager-employee relationship and providing a consistent and meaningful time for open communication is a great first step.
That’s why we designed 1:1s to help eliminate the distractions that usually accompany these types of meetings like finding a time that works for everyone, keeping track of an agenda, capturing notes, etc., to allow our users to focus on what matters, building that relationship.
How it Drives Engagement
The positive impact of these types of recurring meetings has been observed in organizations all over the world. Employees whose managers hold regular meetings with them are almost three times as likely to be engaged as employees whose managers do not hold regular meetings with them.
One big engagement survey rating is often: My supervisor, or someone at work, seems to care about me as a person. A walking 1:1 is a great way for this basic need to be met for all of your employees. These walking 1:1s can focus on asking the right questions so the manager can learn what frustrates, worries, inspires, and motivates each person on their team.
Bringing 1:1s to mobile also allows our users to take a much-needed break from their desks. Studies show the best way to actively listen and pay attention is to keep your secondary focus busy. A walking 1:1 gets both people moving and removes any accidental multi-tasking, or mind wandering.
Those moments may sound small, but making time for spontaneous, honest conversations is what helps managers to see their employees as the unique, complex individuals that they are.
How it works
To get started with 1:1s, make sure your company is on either the Essential or Pro Plan.
Select which employee you’d like to meet with, schedule a time and meeting cadence, and add agenda items you’d like to cover! Both people will receive an email notification as a reminder to prepare, the day before the meeting.
Once your 1:1 is set up you can do everything else you may want directly from the Pingboard mobile app. You can add, edit, and delete agenda items, set topics to be recurring, take detailed notes, and even see the last time they took a vacation to make sure they’re taking the time off that they need to function at their best.
